November Windup: Monthly Favorites

December 1st, 2013

______________________________________________

This month has seen endless exam preparation, fall play rehearsals, and freelance photography! All of these things I cannot complain about in the least! I did well on my exams, the fall play was a grand success, and my clients have been pleased with my work! The month has quickly brought temperatures in Michigan to an all time low, and the snow is coming in, which is bringing the holiday spirit to this home!

Kat, I have been waiting to feature you for my monthly favorites, even though you have been a favorite for a while! Kat Williams of RockNRollBride shares the alternative weddings of many love birds along with her own writings of life as a blogger and the business behind it. She also is a headmistress of the Blogcademy, a workshop to help bloggers reach their full potential! I am getting a kick out of looking through all of the wedding photos for inspiration!

Do you have that one accessory you recently purchase and cannot wear it enough? That is this hounds-tooth scarf from H&M! I find myself this winter wearing more black and white, and I cannot complain! It has kept me warm through my walks from the parking lot into school, and during photo-shoots with clients.

Although I have NOT seen Frozen, this song done by Idina Menzel was absolutely amazing! I felt nostalgia to her performance in Wicked, and she has such an amazing voice! I cannot get enough of it, and am quite tempted to go see the movie!

This past month was a busy one bringing my senior year closer and closer to an end. Finishing one show, and bringing another show to a beginning is a lot of work but a lot of excitement as well! December is going to bring a close to a great year!

October Windup: Monthly Favorites

November 4th, 2013

______________________________________________

November 1st for most is an instant transition from spooky season into Christmas season leaving Thanksgiving for Americans overshadowed. October has been a busy month of juggling school, extracurriculars and design life all in one big jumble. The tenth month of the year has definitely came and gone in a flash.

One day, I was curious to see if their were any other avid bloggers from Grand Rapids that shared the same passions that I have. This quick Google search led me across Tieka of Selective Potential! She is a self proclaimed designer by day and blogger by night. Her blog features along with her design, many posts of her style and ventures around Michigan, especially emphasizing her admiration of Michigan lighthouses.

style-01

Back to brown has been the theme of this month and next month. Not exactly an aesthetic choice, rather then the hair color of the role for the show I am currently in. Either way, I am digging the chocolately brown even though I will definitely be going back to blonde at the end of this current month!

Every time I go to Starbucks, I manage to pick up their Pick Of The Week, and this was the one a few weeks back. I love the upbeat tempo. I am tempted to take a road trip based on this one song. It’s crazy how one song can be so moving.

As said previously, senior year is taking me by storm. It is hard to realize how much I am juggling to keep up with everything. I have a show coming up this month along with more photo jobs. I am ready for the holiday season! I hope you all enjoyed your Halloween! Have a good November! xxoo

September Windup: Monthly Favorites!

Fall is here, Michigan is on the brink of cooling down to fall weather, and Halloween season is about to begin! September was a wonderful month of new routines and fun!

I’ve already payed enough homage to Gala Darling, but since she has kind of led my mantra this past month, and keeping me from going insane from the wisdom translated in her posts, who better then to take the place of my favorite person this month! If any of you are looking for an uplifting message wrapped in a glamorous package, visit GalaDarling.com!

Very James Bond-esque if I don’t say so myself! I did a shoot with the help of Julia a few weeks ago for my own senior photos. I figured, I have a camera and the editing skills so why am I going to waste $300+ on a few pictures, so DIY was the direction I went and I am pretty pleased with the turnout. I am in love with this blazer I purchased from Forever 21!

music-01

Lorde – Royals! I have seen her show up in my Youtube suggestions for a while and heard talk from friends and the internet about her, yet took me until about a week ago to actually listen to a song by her, and I’m in love! The lyrics to this song are so much sincere then other songs that are circulating the media right now, and definitely adds points in my book as well.

I used to hate fall when I was younger, but as I grow I am finding myself to love this season more and more. The activities fit for this season put me in such a great mood, or maybe it’s that sweater season is coming up… Either way, I’m thrilled! Have a splendid weekend readers! xxoo

August Windup: Monthly Favorites!

August 31st, 2013

______________________________________________

Hello all, and welcome to an OVERDUE Monthly Favorites for the month of August 2013! Senior year and school has definitely shaken my aura, and I am quickly getting back on track and adjusting my routine to my utmost productivity, and happiness.

This month’s favorite person goes whole-heatedly out to my sister Annmarie! I give her such great thanks for letting Erin, and I stay with her and Brad(my brother in-law) in Pennsylvania the whole week we were there. They were both very hospitable and gave us a great taste of life in Pennsylvania and made a very enjoyable Vacation!

style-01

I may, or may not have went a little heavy on “Back To School” shopping this year while on Summer break. I always make it a mission to go to an H&M¬†when going out of town or state because we don’t have one in GR… YET! Either way, I am also really loving sporting the blonde hair, even though I put my scalp through the wringer… haha

music-01

I discovered this song through Starbucks’ “Pick Of The WeeK” cards, and I usually pick one up when I stop by, and I really liked this one! I reccomend stopping by there every now and then if you are interested in trying new music, and getting a free download!

September is a very abrupt awakening that this year is going to be filled with a lot of challenges, adventure, and memories to be made down the line. I am anxious for this year to unfold and see where I stand a year from now. Have a good one readers!

July Windup: Monthly Favorites!

July 31st, 2013
______________________________________________

It’s already August! I find myself saying this to every month, and I don’t know how I feel considering that this year is moving at such a rapid pace, and knowing that my life is going to be changing so much over the course of the next few years, for example I will know where I am living in the next few months and where I will be attending school after graduation! It is all so mind bending!

A New Yorker, writer, and style expert, is the reason why I have been getting a lot out of the writing of Nicolette Mason! She blogs about her passion revolving around fashion, and is also a regular columnist for monthly woman’s magazine, Marie Claire! For someone who “graduated with honors from¬†Parsons the New School for Design¬†in 2004, with a¬†BBA in Design and Management” and lives in New York, I find very inspiring!

style-01

I may or may not have been shamelessly been obsessing over this TWENTY DOLLAR cat shirt I purchased on Mackinac Island. I am a fan of weird looking prints on shirts or clothes in general, and when I saw this in a random store I never knew about, I had to have it! I should have bought the pug dog version of this shirt, and don’t be surprised if you see this shirt in ¬†future outfit posts…

music-01

For how dorky of a movie Wayne’s World¬†was, I love the cover of Ballroom Blitz done by Tia Carrera, and I can say with no regrets that I like it better then Sweet’s original version! Hehehe

______________________________________________

This past month has been filled with a lot of travel, and a lot Summer like activities, that have created so many good memories! I know this next month will bring just as many good memories, since I will be visiting my sister and brother in-law next week and along with that I will be venturing yet again to NEW YORK! So excited! I hope you are enjoying your Summer as much as I am! Have a good one! xxoo

June Windup! Monthly Favorites

June 30th, 2013

______________________________________________

Now June is being brought to a close, which also means that the first month of Summer is also being brought to a close. I always write about how crazy things are going so fast this year, and the reason it has been impacting me so much, is because my life is going to be changing so much over the course of the next two years preparing for college. Before we know it, we will be in 2014 and I will know what college im going to and where I will be living a year from now.

I have been getting a lot out of photographer, Chloe Rice’s blog recently. Chloe lives in the San Francisco area and she is very artistic aside from her main medium of photography. Her blog uses typography to accompany her photos in awesome ways and I read her posts for feel-good inspiration for art¬†etc.

I have been in a dressy mood lately for Summer, and I recently got this outfit for the wedding rehearsal. The shirt is from Khols and the shorts are from Target.

I came across Stealing Sheep in the background of a Rookie Mag video a few weeks ago and I fell in love with the group! They have such a unique style and the music video to this song was just really interesting to me.

May Windup! Monthly Favorites

May 29th, 2013

______________________________________________

I can definitely say that this month has taken me definitely by storm! These past few weeks have been hectic with multiple final projects, AP testing, all whilst juggling the blog, things have seemed a little out of order this month. I am excited to move onto June and into Summer where I will have so much more personal interests for me to focus on!

Arabelle Sicardi of Fashion Pirate (credit photo above) has been a blogging inspiration for me from early 2012 when I started blogging last year. Her simplistic blog style, and her outfit shoots have inspired me greatly in my own type of wardrobe. She also does a lot of thrifting which proves that you don’t need luxury brands to make yourself fashionable.

good day thrifting

Most of my fashion finds of this month has been from the thrift store. I have been trying to be less “title hungry” and challenge myself to find more at thrift stores, and the three finds above from the past weekend have not kept me disappointed. I especially can’t wait to wear the purple windbreaker in the Winter!

My theater teacher sent some classmates of mine, including myself this video of Lady Gaga’s live performance of hair. I hadn’t even heard this Gaga song before seeing this video, and I am in love with the acoustic version much more! You’d be surprised but most acoustic versions sound much better then the radio, or studio versions.

Favorite Moments Of The Month

+ Seeing Wicked for the first time!
+ Finishing my AP test!
+ Increased use of shoes from H&M
+ More Visits To Bloop

May has been a busy month like I said earlier but I feel like these next few months are just going to get more busy. While my attention won’t be focused as much on school, I have plenty of projects aimed at starting this Summer which I can’t wait to share with you!
